Ideate, then create.

Ideate, then create.

The Beginning.

Growing up, art was something that kept me going and inspired me like no other. Originally I wanted to become a Marine Biologist, but in High school I found that using photoshop was exciting and opened a whole new world. *Cue the Aladdin Music! Cheesy, I know, but it’s 100 percent the truth.

Ever since I’ve been honing my skills. While at Kendall College of Art and Design, I found my passion specifically for Advertising. I love coming up with witty concepts, copywriting, and doing sketches and roughs.

I’ve always been excited when new ads appear, and geek out about them while my friends are like “okay okay calm down, it’s just an ad!”. I say nay, it can change a person’s perspective about a brand in an instant and say so much with so little when executed well. Just between you and me, I am glad to be the one making them!

Trust the process

I always start with a brain dump. Get all the ideas swarming in my head initially out on the paper. This helps set the tone and simultaneously get rid of ideas that are too obvious.

Then I can take a moment to do some research, find what it is I’m really looking for, (along with some inspiration of course).

Then, another brain dump! This time with more words! I use these to come up with ideas, and thumbnails. Lots of thumbnails. I double check to make sure I’m heading in the direction that needs to happen based on my previous findings. If it’s not, I go back and refine more. I think you get the point: basically trusting my process is to ideate several times before I create.
